Celebrating the luck of the Irish this month.

As we head into March, the City of Gatlinburg, along with several of the area's most popular attractions, are celebrating all month long with a host of Irish-themed promotions and other special events. In that respect, you'll be seeing a lot of green this month, a very fitting color to go with the natural greens blooming and sprouting all over the Great Smoky Mountains. If you're planning to stay in Gatlinburg, here are a few of the events from which you might choose.

Gatlinburg's St. Patrick's Day Celebration

The city is hosting its first-ever St. Patrick's Day festival, which runs from March 12 through 19. The lineup includes Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales, featuring dancers doing Irish jigs and reels on the streets nightly from 5 to 9 p.m., beginning March 16. Also look for a professional bagpiper, and several area restaurants will be serving Irish-inspired dishes. The celebration culminates on March 20 with a fireworks show at the Gatlinburg Space Needle

Everyone Is Irish

Anakeesta in Gatlinburg will host the Everyone Is Irish event on March 17 from 12 to 3:30 p.m. The nature- and outdoors-themed attraction will have specialty foods and drinks, including classic Irish dishes like bangers and mash. An authentic bagpiper will be performing in Black Bear Village, and of course, guests can still take advantage of all the fun this downtown attraction has to offer.

Get Lucky In March

Get Lucky In March is actually the name of a St. Patrick's Day-inspired event taking place all month long at Gatlinburg SkyLift Park overlooking downtown Gatlinburg. The entire park is decorated in green lights at night, including the popular SkyBridge feature. Also look for a huge tree with a pot of gold underneath it, and guests will be given special commemorative coins to mark the occasion (while supplies last).

St. Patrick's Day at The Island

This annual celebration takes place at The Island in Pigeon Forge. On March 17 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the entire development will be decked out in green, and The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel and The Island Show Fountain will be lit up in green lights. There will also be live entertainment and themed foods courtesy of on-site food vendors and restaurants.

By the way, we have plenty of convenient parking in downtown Gatlinburg if you want to attend any festivities in that city. And if you want to incorporate The Island in Pigeon Forge into your outing, leave your vehicle in one of our lots and take the trolley to Pigeon Forge.
