Pepper Place in Mountain Mall, Gatlinburg

Sevierville and Pigeon Forge aren't the only places in the area that offer mall shopping. If you've ever visited downtown Gatlinburg, chances are you're familiar with Mountain Mall, located in the wedge where the Parkway splits off into River Road. This shopping center has been around for decades, and it's unique in that it offers one of the few completely indoor multi-store shopping experiences in the Smokies. The outlet malls in the other towns have covered outdoor walkways; at Mountain Mall, you can shop your way through multiple levels of retailers, most of which are unique specialty shops. Read on to get a quick peek at just some of the tenants you can expect to find on your next visit to downtown Gatlinburg.

The Rhythm Section

Record stores had all but gone away in this country, but with the resurgence of vinyl, this longtime purveyor of music is still going strong, offering a wide selection of vinyl and CDs as well as DVDs, concert tickets, band merch, concert posters, jewelry and much more. They've been around since 1978, so these guys know their music.

Pepper Palace

Looking for a way to spice up mealtime? Drop by the Pepper Palace for a comprehensive selection of hot sauces, salsas, seasonings, rubs and many more culinary items for the connoisseur with the peppery palate. Their inventory is great for home cooking or gift giving.

Paws & Claws Pet Fashion

Ever think, “Hmm. I wonder where I could get a Tennessee Titans hoodie for my dog.” If that's you, then look no further. Just scoot over to this boutique for cats and dogs. They have clothing items, yes, but also all sorts of merchandise for animal lovers, including license plates, calendars and gift items.

And these are just a few examples of what's in store on Mountain Mall's six levels. You'll find other shops that sell jewelry, tobacco products, cowboy apparel, teas, cosmetics and more. The mall also has a variety of eateries suitable for lunching or snacking during your time there.

There's no dedicated parking for Mountain Mall, but it's easier than ever these days to park your car in Gatlinburg. We operate seven different lots in town, some of which are a short walk from the mall. Or you could park further down the Parkway and take the trolley back to the north end of downtown where the mall is. Regardless, you'll be just footsteps away from Mountain Mall's variety of merchants as well as all the attractions, shops and restaurants that are located within walking distance.

About Leif Palmer

Leif Palmer loves residing in Gatlinburg. He is an avid outdoorsman: rowing for exercise on the lake, trail hiking, and free climbing rocks in the mountains. He indulges his arty side by periodically beating up pieces of marble by sculpting. He is always frustrated by his inability to sink long putts, and hates his curly hair (but his wife loves it). Leif has been known to muster enough courage to change a diaper, and hopes his son will become a chip off the old block.
